Speak English everywhere

People I know most of time speak Sinhala and complain "macho, I can't speak English, But I have been to many Spoken English and Grammar classes". "But I am not still confident of speaking English". What is the reason for this?

Many people practice English when they are only at classes. After the classes they again speak Sinhala and don't follow any English materials. Without speaking in any language you won't be able to excel in that Language.



Many of my friends are working in Italy now. They can speak Italian very well. But they hadn't followed any Italian course before they migrated to Italy. But now they can converse in Italian. Reason is very easy and simple. Every time, they hear is Italian. They can't even ask anything in Sinhala or English. Cause Italian people speak Italian. So our people have to learn their language definitely to work with them. So They learn it by practicing the language they want.


So if you really want to speak English, Start speaking English. Do not assume what other people think about yo English knowledge, keep speaking English. While you are speaking, check quickly whether things ya said grammatically correct or not. Don't be afraid to make simple mistakes in yo first stage. Most important thing is to start speaking English. English is not our mother tongue. So do not shy to speak. People make mistakes. Even native speakers also make some grammatical mistakes when they write and speak. Then what about us??


Use yo resources such as Internet, GPRS enabled mobile phones......etc. I believe our young people have many fancy mobile gadgets. They can use them to get information from Internet and read e-books and other related materials related to English. Leading tele-communication providers in Sri Lanka are providing SMS news alerts. so users are able to subscribe to these news services and get news in English.

Try to find yo own way to uplift yo knowledge.
